F.A.Q.

HEY! So stoked you've found yourself on my FAQ page. Hopefully this might answer a lot of questions you two may have, and if not I'm definitely down to answer anything else! Enjoy! Xx

Do you deliver sneak peak photos?

OH HECK YES. #INSTANTGRATIFICATION. You get married and the first thing you want to do that week is shout it from the rooftops! I give all of my couples 'sneak peak' previews of about 25 edited photographs the very next day after the wedding. That way they can post them on Instagram, Facebook, and all over social media for the world to see.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?

For weddings, I deliver anywhere from 400-1000 images. Every single wedding is different, some are super busy nonstop and I'm there shooting for 8-10 hours, and some are very intimate and relaxed and I'm only there for 4 hours. So it truly just depends on whats going on during that wedding, how long I'm there, and lots of other factors!

All photos are delivered via a pictime gallery. It’s an online website that allows me to upload all your photos, share the gallery with you via a shareable link, and you’re able to download all the images directly from the website and share the gallery link with friends & family where they can view and download all the photos as well.

if you’ve never shot at our venue before, will that affect anything?

No! Definitely not. If I've never shot at your venue, it really doesn't make any difference compared to if I have. I like to arrive a little early to scout the venue and look it up on google to get an idea beforehand, but mainly it all comes down to skill and knowledge. Luckily, I can literally adjust my settings in a matter of seconds. So even if I haven't shot at your venue, I'll still be able to read the light, find the best spots, and adapt to the setting I am in. I actually feel SO inspired at all new venues, and it's a super fresh/rad look on each new one.

Do you deliver every single image that you take?

Nope! Throughout the day you'll see me clicking like crazy, taking lots of photos! Within those photos, there are always ones I don't deliver. But don't worry, they're never ones you would want anyways! Usually they consist of people blinking, talking, etc. Because my work is mainly candids and documentary style I often overshoot to ensure I get the perfect moment captured and then during editing I have a process called culling where I go through and choose the very best images that tell the story or emotion captured from each moment to include in your gallery.

what if we end up needing to reschedule our wedding?

If you end up needing to reschedule for any reason you will be able to reschedule your wedding for another date in that same year of your original wedding date with no additional fees. If you reschedule to a new wedding date that is the following year/s later you will have to pay additional fees based on my current booking rate as they are subject to change each year. As soon as you know you’ll need to reschedule let me know and then we’d be in contact to figure out a new day that would work out in both our schedules. If the new date you choose is a date I'm unavailable then I would hire a photographer to shoot in my place (at no additional cost to you) and I would be the one to still edit all those photos. If you choose to cancel your wedding or do not want to have another photographer shooting in my place then you would be forfeiting your retainer.

Do you have travel fees for weddings?

Anything within 1 hour from Hillsboro, OR is included in your photography package. Anything over that I require a travel fee that helps cover gas, meals, hotel accommodations, flights if necessary, and my time involved. My just the basics package is only available for venues within that 1hr radius from Hillsboro, OR unless otherwise noted in our email exchanges.

I quote based on venue and your wedding date as during certain peak seasons the pricing on travel fees/hotels is higher and the travel fee will be adjusted accordingly. A hotel 1 night stay the day of your wedding is required for all weddings 3hrs+ driving distance of Hillsboro, OR. A 2 night hotel stay (day prior to wedding and day of your wedding) is required for all weddings 3hr+ AND a ceremony starting before 1pm.

I book all my travel accommodations - it’s easier on both of us that way. Travel fees are due in full with your first payment and is non-refundable. To lower travel fees I opt to pay in full on non-refundable hotel rooms and no change flights and travel days are blocked off in my calendar as soon as you book, so once booked I am unable to refund you these travel fees as I am unable to cancel on my end and am turning away potential clients on days blocked off for travel to your wedding destination.

Here are common areas booked and their estimates (reach out via email for an exact quote) : Seattle / Bend $500 , S. Oregon Coast $700

we want an engagement session, do your packages include them?

It’s an add on option for every package and offered half price when booked with your wedding package :) I love engagement sessions because it not only allows us to get to know each other before the wedding, but it also allows you two to photograph such an exciting time, being engaged!

will you help us plan our engagement session?

YES! I have an engagement session guide that I send over with lots of tips on choosing a location, picking outfits, and what to expect during your session. Along with that we’re also in contact via email to chat over it all and sometimes my couples opt for a zoom chat prior if they’re really wanting to talk more in depth about their vision for the shoot. I also actively add to my Pinterest board of outfit inspiration for engagement sessions that is so helpful when you’re stuck on what to wear and what will pair well together.

Can we choose any location for our engagement session?

I used to be down for any location - even driving 3 hrs on the occasion for just an half hour session. That was pre-baby though! Now I prioritize my time with my family and limit engagement sessions to anywhere in Washington County/Portland region. I’m based in Hillsboro and know many amazing places that we can shoot at. My engagement session guide lists a few possible spots as well as talks about the process in thinking about which locations may be meaningful to you. I like to think my engagement sessions (and really all packages I offer) are competitive and often do consider myself a “budget” photographer, because I love what I do and want everyone to have access to amazing photos BUT it all gets broken down like this - around an hour rt drive time to and from the session, an hour shooting, approx. 2-3 hours hand editing each image, and lots of time spent emailing back and forth to plan out your session. Adding on time in driving to farther distances for sessions just isn’t feasible with my pricing structure.

When will we get our engagement photos back?

I am very proud of my 24 hr turn around time for my engagement sessions. You’ll receive the full gallery the day after your session - and sometimes I can even deliver it the day of! I am the only photographer in Portland that offers this expedited delivery included and at such a low session fee. On the rare occasion that I need longer than 24hrs to edit (ie maybe I have a wedding the next day and won’t have time to edit) I would let you know and give you a new estimated delivery date not to exceed 1 week from your session date.

WHAT IF THERE’S AN EMERGENCY AND YOU AREN’T ABLE TO BE THERE FOR OUR WEDDING?

In case of a family emergency or positive covid result I would hire a lead photographer to shoot in my place at your wedding and notify you immediately. This would be another wedding photographer that shoots in a similar style to me and has a similar level of experience that isn’t already booked that day. I have a network of local photographers that I keep in touch with where we help share ideas and also reach out for second shooting and lead shooting. If you choose to add on or book a second shooter in your package your second shooter would also be someone from that network (a wedding photographer that has open availability that day). Second shooting and lead shooting is a great opportunity for other wedding photographers because it allows them to fill their calendar with a date they weren’t able to book and is a fun way to be at and shoot a wedding without the extra work of editing - despite how many hours we are at your wedding it’s the editing process that takes weeks because of how much work and detail goes into each photo.

All that to say that if for some unfortunate reason I am unable to be there for your wedding day you will be well taken care of by another photographer in the industry that knows exactly how wedding timelines work, what to look for in shots, and what photos need capturing. After they shoot your wedding day in my place I would then get the memory cards from them and hand edit all those photos in my editing style so the final result will still be true to the photos you see on my portfolio.

who will be my second shooter?

I have a network of local photographers that I keep in touch with where we help share ideas and also reach out for second shooting and lead shooting. If you choose to add on or book a second shooter in your package your second shooter would be someone from that network (a wedding photographer that has open availability that day). Second shooting and lead shooting is a great opportunity for other wedding photographers because it allows them to fill their calendar with a date they weren’t able to book and is a fun way to be at and shoot a wedding without the extra work of editing - despite how many hours we are at your wedding it’s the editing process that takes weeks because of how much work and detail goes into each photo.

do you offer albums or photo prints?

I freaking love albums. Nothing is better than seeing my work come to life on paper. Albums and prints are not included in my packages, but rather A La Carte. Most of my couples usually decide after their wedding to purchase an album/prints. You can either print through Pictime or I can design the album, and send it over to you for a final proof before we order it! Once we order it, it usually takes 4-8 weeks (usually way sooner) to get the final album delivered on your doorstep. Albums range depending on the style of book, size, number of pages but you an expect to pay $100+ for it. Prints and albums are almost always purchased as a seperate invoice after the wedding not with your wedding package, just because you usually need to see the photos to know how many pages you’d want and how many photos you’ll want to print to be framed.

do you deliver raw files?

Nope! You're booking me as your wedding photographer because you trust me. You trust my editing style, artistry, and how I finalize every image. Raw photos are completely untouched, unedited images, and they aren't a final representation of my work. I edit every single image individually so the final result looks beautiful; the exposure, tones, contrast, and more, is just perfect how I love it.

What camera do you use?

You can check out all the gear I use by clicking the button below. I shoot with dual slot cameras and always have 2 cameras on me so if one were to break I always have a back up. Dual slot means that I have two memory cards in the camera that the photos are being saved to when I shoot. If one memory card were to fail I would still have all the photos on the other memory card. It’s a safer way to shoot weddings to avoid loss.

do you ever book two weddings in one day?

I'm always surprised when people ask me this! I would NEVER do that! That is your day and my sole focus is on you, your wedding, and being there fully. I'll sometimes book two weddings in the same weekend depending on circumstances and if it works out ideally, but never on the same day. That date is yours and yours only.

do you ever use a second shooter?

Usually it’s just me, myself, and I. Working with a second is great because there’s always two people in two places, at once. Most of my couples opt for the second shooter to be there when they want coverage of both wedding parties getting ready, different angles during the ceremony, and/ or have a large guest count. Longer weddings = more to capture and a second shooter is always nice so every moment is captured. I have a 2hr minimum for second shooter add ons for your wedding package.

we want to book you and reserve our date! What do we do?

Woot woot! Fill out the 'BOOK ME' form on my website, I'll email you all my packages, what I offer, and answer any questions you may have! I'll then send over the service agreement, you'll fill it out, put down a 50% retainer of your package total to reserve the date, and BAM! I'm all yours! The remaining payment is due 30 days before your wedding. If you’re booking an engagement session with your wedding package that fee will also be due with your first payment. Everything I do is all online. It makes life super simple, for both of us. :)

what happens after i book you?

About a week after you book me expect to receive my printed wedding guide in the mail at the mailing address you entered when completing your service agreement. In it you will see timeline help, a list of vendors I recommend, planning help for choosing a good getting ready spot, advice on how to get the best photos possible on your wedding day, and shot list info.

Your engagement session We’ll start planning this out when you book! I’ll send over my engagement session guide and Pinterest board of outfit inspiration. You’ll take a look over and then let me know what you think so we can start chatting about all the deets - what location and date you have in mind, any inspo you have for the session, etc.

Day after your engagement session You’ll have your full gallery in your email!

1 month prior to your wedding - you’ll pay the remaining balance for your wedding and will receive an email from me with a link to my wedding day questionnaire for collecting all the nitty gritty details about your wedding day - like what your ceremony time will be, where you’ll be getting ready at, the names of important people, and the info for your other vendors booked (I love to connect with them beforehand and tag them in any shared photos on social media).

In the weeks before your wedding - I’ll take all the info. you submitted and create a timeline for when I’ll be arriving and what to expect in terms of coverage (ie. at 4 o’clock I’ll be at x location photographing so and so). Sometimes I send this timeline earlier in the planning process and we just readjust in the weeks prior based on any updated planning, but often times my couples aren’t sure of all the details finalized until about a month prior so I like to hold off until things are pretty set it in stone. If you have a planner/day of coordinator I love to connect with them during this time as well and introduce myself. If you have a second shooter added into your package this is also when I book them and meet to hand over sd cards for them to shoot on and discuss expectations and the timeline for your wedding.

Day of your wedding - I show up and I get to capture all the beautiful details of your wedding day! :)

Day after your wedding - I send over a sneak peak gallery of approx. 25 images so you can share with friends and family

Month after your wedding - You’ll have your full gallery in your email!

do you only photograph couples + weddings?

Families too! I do family mini sessions and maternity here and there throughout the year whenever they fit into my schedule so feel free to inquire via email or check out my family page for more information on my mini sessions.
